Context
Paz Holandesa is a free children’s hospital in Arequipa, Peru. It was founded in honour of child cancer patient Tony Rojas Molleapaza, whose memory is cherished by the city.
Design
Our task was to develop a comprehensive branding strategy for the hospital, designed to engage children and create a warm, welcoming environment. The hospital signage was crafted using locally sourced lava stone from Arequipa, ensuring a strong connection to the region. All design applications were implemented by local artisans and employees, reinforcing community involvement.
To provide comfort to young patients, we designed a series of dolls that are given to children after their operations. These characters—Paz, Paz’s friends, a nurse, a doctor, and administrative staff—represent the familiar faces they encounter in the hospital, helping to make the environment feel friendly, reassuring, and caring.
